im a subnautica veteran to say, i play it for about 3 years and i bought it before a month, i used torrents cause i couldnt pay,now i bought the 2 game and i love safe shallows becase of the reapers and how chilly it is. <3

I would love to share my cyclops base. It's got an internal neon design so there is alot of glow even if i turn all lights off or it loses power.

I would add that you can carry an extra oxygen tank and switch it out. Just make sure to fill it by equipping it first.

One really has to appreciate the skill that went into the narrative of Subnautica. The story of the survivors and even the Degasi aren't necessary (though helpful), with the only story aspect "intruding" on the survival gameplay being the need to cure the Kharaa in order to escape. Yet there's an interesting story to be found, and multiple layers of reasoning for why Ryley survived while everyone else perished. There's his ideal location near the center of the crater, allowing him to safely gather resources and get setup/established.. There's the damage to Lifepod 5's radio preventing it from transmitting and thus not giving its location/presence away to the Warpers. There's the fact that he's knocked unconscious and thus not immediately active, contributing further to him being missed by the Warpers in the initial sweep. And speaking of the Warpers, they themselves serve as a clear explanation for everyone who died without an explicit explanation: if something else didn't get them (malfunction, explosion, stupidity, Leviathan), then eventually the Warpers got them instead. But it gets better, because part of why Ryley succeeded where the Degasi survivors failed is because the Aurora came to 4546B ready for an aquatic world, with tons of data and equipment purpose-built for the situation the survivors found themselves in. And as icing on the cake, the PDA expects the Kharaa to be fatal within two weeks, yet it will never kill Ryley and the Degasi survivors made it for months with the infection, but Ryley's survival here isn't just a gameplay contrivance, because logically speaking one of your major food sources will be the Peepers, who are regularly exposed to Enzyme 42. They may not carry enough to cure it, but consuming them and the trace amounts they carry (as well as chiefly swimming in waters that they HEAVILY populate) is still enough to slow the infection. tldr: the narrative in Subnautica is subtle, unintrusive, and becomes more and more brilliant as you peel back the layers.

imagine there was an easter egg in subnautica 1 where if you went so far out (at the top of the void) to the point where you found sector zero (or vice versa)

There's a spot on the map where the red grass creepvine and mushrooms forest intersect which gives a good mix of resources and a a nice combination of views if you don't mind the Minecraft esk borders that are exaggerated by being so close to three completely different places only problem is it kinda in a awkward corner of the map but close to the somewhat blood kelp making it great for lat game

blood vines are really cool I feel cause they have that horror thing going for them more than the other biomes. it feels like a metroid game even down to the unlocks in them

crag field is my least favorite biome so far as it's not just dark but you get to play a tower defense where the bone sharks try to chomp your seamoth like girl power station in splatoon 2 octo expansion

The fact that almost every biome has a high ambience score just goes to show that the beauty of the game is really it’s selling point

My favorite biome is the lost river but not necessarily because of the lore. But because of versatility. You have access to pretty much every resource in the game or can go get them within a moments notice. Plenty of thermal vents and uranite for thermal or nuclear power. And the thermal vents make excellent places to pit stop your cyclopse to charge. I almost always end up building my main base in this biome. Usually in the tree cove area since it has wide open space and a pretty view of the jelly rays and the tree. And the inactive lava zone is literally around the corner.

So if lifepods 1 to 25 launched, and we can only find lifepods 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 12, 13, 17 and 19. I wonder what happened to lifepods 1, 8,9,10,11,14,15,18,20 - 25. I shudder to think that they ended up in the dead zone and were dragged down beyond crush depth by the ghost leviathans.

The most helpful tip I've discovered (and one that applies to other survival games as well) is before leaving your base always look at your inventory and clean out the random junk so you can bring back more stuff

i built a base in the grand reef once and i loved it, that place is so beautiful (as long as you stick to a specific area 💀)

Style for some reason equals cold and scary and not chill and beautiful. Full out alien jungle island is 3, but crash zone with no visibility is 10. What??

Start your base with a Multipurpose Room and reinforce all 8 walls - this gives a lot of leeway in building without passing the Integrity limit.

0:58 for every 50 times I’ve died in Subnautica, this probably accounts for 49 of them

I always thought the walkway path into aurora was the only way, lol. I have always used that route and didn't even think of using the propulsion cannon for the other way.

One time i was playing subnautica on my microsoft surface 6, It was my old laptop, And i decided to beat subnautica with 20 fps, I got all the way to getting cured and building the rocket, So when i go to deactivate the gun, Its uh, It refuses to load on my computer, So my save broke, I went insane

If u take like 5 min to kill the ghost, then lost river becomes easily the best in the game

My computer can't render shite and i get 3 fps every time a sand shark appears but the big shrooms just spark joy. I just like the big fellas.
